The Death of Skinny Jeans
This weekend as I was peacefully enjoying the weather and my Cup-of-Noodles, I was reading an article on InStyle.com titled “I Agree with Gen Z: Skinny Jeans Are Over,” and my heart stopped.
What!? No!
As a self-identified millennial, I love my skinny jeans. How could this iconic look be over just like that? I’ve owned some of my denim pieces longer than most of Gen Z’s high school careers. Now to stay “hip” I must ditch my skinnies for what? A pair of mom jeans!? Well, they are kind of comfortable...
No, it’s the principle of the matter! I’ve spent my time on the wheel of denim trends. I went through the flare, the low-rise, and the high-rise jeans. From my reliable coral and teal-colored skinny jeans, to my pop of color bubble gum pink and rock-star purple skinny jeans I did colored skinny jeans true justice! I even had red skinny jeans that I would pair with a plain white T-shirt and a pin stripped vest like I was the real main character of Glee. I even did the whole “denim on denim on denim” look (thanks Britney).
Well, if it's time to switch up my look, then at least I get the perfect excuse for a shopping spree. The things we do for fashion.
